Invisible Hands is a volunteer-based delivery service that provides contactless deliveries without fees or extra costs. We deliver groceries, medicine and other necessities to the elderly, disabled, immunocompromised and otherwise homebound.  Founded in March 2020 as an emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Invisible Hands is a not-for-profit corporation with over 10K volunteers in the greater New York Metropolitan area. In addition to serving recipients who are able to pay for their deliveries, we partner with food pantries, mutual aid and community organizations throughout New York City to help them meet the needs of food-insecure New Yorkers.

Position

The Regional Organizer position is for a West Coast-based organizer with deep connections in the Seattle, Los Angeles, and/or San Francisco regions. The job will entail volunteer recruitment and recipient engagement for Invisible Hands’ expansion efforts, through partnerships with external organizations, a multifaceted media strategy, and grassroots outreach.

This role is built for ambitious self-starters who set high goals and see them through. The organizer will be expected to be in consistent communication with the Invisible Hands operations team to ensure smooth, steady, and accurate reporting volunteer engagement.

 

Responsibilities

The Regional Organizer will be responsible for implementing our volunteer and client engagement and retention plan, and will perform the following tasks, among others:

·       Develop and execute volunteer engagement strategies

·       Perform outreach to prospective client bases

·       Communicate with new volunteers and bring them into the community of Invisible Hands

·       Ensure a smooth and steady rollout of Invisible Hands’ expansion to the West Coast

 

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

●      Has 2+ years of professional experience in organizing

●      Has excellent organizational, delegation and prioritization skills

●      Is skilled at volunteer management and retention

●      Is a highly skilled communicator who is able to navigate difficult conversations with tact

●      Has superb writing and editing skills

●      Is passionate, positive, and people-oriented

●      Is used to a dynamic, ever-changing environment

●      (Preferred) Has a proven track record at rapidly growing an organization’s geographic reach

 

Terms of Employment

Part-time (approx. 20 hours/week)

Location: California or Washington – preferably San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Seattle

 Salary: $12,000 for a three-month engagement. No benefits.
