I want my absentee ballot delivered—can you help?
Yes! If you live in New York City and need your absentee ballot delivered for the Primary Election, you can submit a request for a volunteer to come to your house and pick it up. We will provide you and your volunteer with simple instructions on how to delivery your absentee ballot efficiently and legally. Make sure to request your absentee ballot early so you have time to fill it out and submit it by Election Day! Please note that while you may place a request at any time, we will not start picking up ballots until polling locations and drop boxes open on June 12th.
Are you affiliated with a political party, candidate, or campaign?
No! Invisible Hands takes no position on any of the political issues or candidates in this or any election and this effort is completely non-partisan. We recognize that much like food and medicine, voting is essential to our community, and we are excited to offer this service to all voters, regardless of political background or beliefs.
How do you ensure that ballots are delivered?
All Invisible Hands volunteers complete a training program and submit photo identification. Additionally, volunteers will be specifically trained to deliver ballots, will submit photo confirmation for each delivery and will call their recipient to confirm the successful drop-off of the ballot. While no human system can be 100% foolproof, our volunteers are committed to protecting the right to vote, and we feel confident that our procedures will effectively mitigate risk.
How can I help?
You can sign up to volunteer at http://invisiblehandsdeliver.org/volunteer or directly download our volunteer app for iPhone or Android (you can also search ‘Invisible Hands’ in the App Store or Google Play). If you are already an Invisible Hands volunteer, keep your eyes out for an announcement from us regarding training procedures!
What is the deadline to request a ballot delivery?
You can request a delivery from June 1st through June 20th and we strongly encourage you to request your delivery as soon as possible within that time frame.
If you live in New York and have not yet requested your ballot from your Board of Elections Office, you have until June 15th to do so by mail.
Can I offer this service in my home state?
This service is strictly limited to New York, which allows for ballot collection and delivery by a third party. Other states have different laws with respect to this practice, so we highly encourage you to consult your own state laws before beginning a similar service in your home state.
Will you be relaunching this effort for the General Election in November?
We certainly hope so with conditions and volunteers permitting.
My organization would love to partner with you on this initiative! How can we get in touch?
We are happy to speak with nonpartisan organizations about potential partnerships to facilitate the delivery of absentee ballots. If you would like to partner with us, please email volunteer@invisiblehandsdeliver.org.
